Temperature controllers PID July 14, 2011

3 new PIDs have arrived from china. They’re simple ones, without ramp options but they cost 3$ each and homemade stuff is more expensive. They’ll be used on ovens, termoforming machines and BGA rework machines/preheaters.

The worst part of these cheap pids is the relay, it’s a mechanical one and will be substituted with a solid state one as soon as I get them cheap.

For halogen Ir sources it’s better to make a dimmer circuit because else it won’t hold on thermal estress and the filament inside will break at the contact points.

Update: there are 5 USD Solid state relays at ebay.
